Union Kitchen Fund Announces Seed Investment in Maspanadas

Union Kitchen and Angeles Investors have teamed up to lead a seed investment round for Maspanadas. Maspanadas is a specialty food company that focuses on producing and distributing Latin American-inspired foods, with a particular emphasis on empanadas. The investment will allow Maspanadas to expand their reach and retail presence throughout the United States.

Under the leadership of Founder and CEO Margarita Womack, an experienced entrepreneur with a PhD from Princeton University in Biology and an MBA from Georgetown University, Maspanadas has experienced rapid growth in the frozen foods category and is determined to further penetrate the market.

Maspanadas recently opened their second manufacturing facility in the greater Washington, DC area. With a production capacity of over 40,000 empanadas per day, the company is well-equipped to meet the growing demand of its loyal customers. The team is enthusiastic about increasing their output efficiently to cater to the increasing demand.

Union Kitchen first started working with Margarita when she joined their Accelerator in 2017 to launch a line of frozen empanadas. "It's been an amazing experience watching Margarita grow Maspanadas from a local DC-based company into a category leader in the natural channel," said Elena Rosenblum, Vice President of Union Kitchen and Maspanadas' Board Member. "Margarita has always been committed to building a company with a strong foundation including owning their own manufacturing and focusing on delivering consumers what they want."

This investment marks a significant milestone for Maspanadas, providing the opportunity to expand its reach and production capacity. Margarita Womack's exceptional leadership skills are evident in the company's rapid growth and market traction.
