Compass Coffee, a Union Kitchen Accelerator Member, was founded by Michael Haft after serving with the U.S. Marines. While deployed in Afghanistan, Haft began drinking coffee as a source of energy, but soon developed a deep appreciation for the pleasures of coffee and new he wanted to build something from this passion. Compass Coffee opened their first location in 2014 in the Shaw neighborhood in Washington, DC.

From their first location to the 16th, Compass has grown into a DC favorite and has their own 40,000 sq ft roastery located in Ivy City. The roastery allows them to own their manufacturing and roast all of their own coffee that they serve fresh daily in their cafes.

Compass Coffee believes in “Real Good Coffee.” All coffee beans are sourced ethically, are expertly crafted and peak-roasted by their roasting team to ensure that each bean realizes its full potential. So whether you're in the mood for a classic cup of coffee, a delicious breakfast sandwich, or a refreshing springtime beverage, Compass Coffee's newest location in downtown DC is the place to be.
