Union Kitchen Accelerator Member, Margarita Womack, founder of Maspandas has been recognized by M&T bank for creating job opportunities and supporting the Hispanic community. They stated, "The company's CEO and Founder, Margarita Womack, is a Colombian immigrant who focuses on providing convenient and nutritious international food options to her customers. MasPanadas is not just limited to delivering delicious empanadas, but it also aims to create job opportunities and empower the Hispanic community. The company is a representation of perseverance, dedication, and community empowerment."

Maspanadas, known for its Latin goodness, quickly gained recognition for its delicious empanadas. What sets Maspanadas apart is not just the mouthwatering taste but also the values it embodies. Margarita's commitment to inclusivity and creating job opportunities for the Hispanic community is at the core of her business. Margarita stated, "By investing in our employees and promoting their success, we are contributing to the overall well-being and prosperity of the community as a whole. It is very important for me to do my work at MasPanadas, as it allows me to contribute to this meaningful cause while also providing excellent food and services to our customers."

Margarita's dedication to owning manufacturing, her journey through the Union Kitchen Accelerator, during which she developed a mission, and launched a market ready product, and her recognition by M&T Bank for creating job opportunities and empowering the Hispanic community are inspiring examples of how businesses can make a difference beyond their products and profits. She continues to expand her brand on a national level, and as Maspanadas continues to grow, so will her impact. Margarita became a manufacturing expert in our shared kitchen, and then went on to open two of her own manufacturing facilities in Maryland where she employs a workforce of 70+ comprised of 90% immigrants, over 80% women, and about half are refugees, primarily from Central and South America.

Margarita shows that entrepreneurship, when fueled by passion and guided by a strong sense of purpose, can be a powerful force for positive change in our community!
