First opened in 2014, Compass Coffee has grown into a District staple by providing real good coffee in the form of espresso drinks, signature coffee blends, teas, and a variety of other beverages.
Michael Haft and Harrison Suarez began drinking coffee as a source of energy, but soon developed a deep appreciation for the simple pleasure of coffee during their deployment in Afghanistan. Haft and Suarez joined Union Kitchen in 2014 before opening their first shop in September that year in the historic Shaw neighborhood.
